Hollis West(he/they) is a multimedia Artist. Graduating class of 26' from Webster U with a bachelor’s in studio art. His roots start in Tulsa, OK, but now a St. Louis, MO local. His art is inspired by our kinship to the natural world. His work often touches on belonging within yourself, to each other, and to the land.  Common themes throughout my work are transformation and metamorphosis. As a transgender man and a citizen of the Cherokee Nation, identity is a major influence in my work.
With the privilege of an Indigenous upbringing, a strong commitment to stewardship of the land was instilled in him. His work often incorporated discarded or recycled materials. He aims to prevent it from going to landfills, by putting them through a process of transformation.
He enjoys making pieces that have a physical depth with layers visually interacting with each other. Each part belongs without displacing the other, all integral parts of the whole piece.
